• Project for Max Mara "Young Designers" Competition.
• Selected for interview in Italy as part of the final round of the competiton - July 2012 (pending results).

Great expeditions to The South Pole and The Antarctic at the beginning of the twentieth century showcased the best and most appropriate gear for tackling the severe conditions of these previously uncharted territories. When looking at this attire, it is understandable to see why many expeditions were ill fated. The explorers were unsuitably dressed and prepared to deal with their harsh surroundings.

• British Fashion Council competition brief set for Nicole Farhi, to design capsule collection for Spring Summer 2013.
• The brief was to design a wearable but exciting collection, and understanding the Nicole Farhi woman was crucial for the success of the line-up.
• My project was called "Les Enfants" and was based on youth, adventure and excitement. There was a French and Paris influence, which I believe helps to relate to the Brand.
• My collection has a muted colour palette, but I believe this adds to the strength of the silhouettes and detailing. I have also incorporated print within the collection, which was a new and exciting path for me.

• This first project of final year was self initiated, which meant I had to approach a designer whom I admired/whose style mine was similar to, and get them to set a brief for me.
• I chose Studio Nicholson, and through successful communication with Nick Wakeman (the designer) I was given a brief to design a Spring Summer 2013 collection, with a focus on print.
• My project was called "To the Lighthouse". The narrative focused on the young son of a lighthouse keeper, combining the feelings of excitement, freedom, play, loneliness and solitude. 
• Nick Wakeman (head designer/owner) was pleased with the project, commenting that the line up was very applicable for the brand. 

• September-October 2011, paid internship in New York for Brooks Brothers.
• Internship won through a compulsory competition at Kingston University.
• Working within the womenswear design team, specifying in the University and Black Fleece collections.
• Researched and designed a range of jackets for the University Line-Spring 2013, to be put into production and sold on the shop floor.
• This are the presentation boards which were presented to the Head Merchandiser at the end of our internship, and they demonstrate the 5 jacket styles I designed.

• Live brief set by Sophie Hulme to produce a collection of coats, dresses or accessories, along with a charm. 
• I chose to design coats, and was heavily influenced by my father's old Barbour coat. 
• This luxury womenswear designer is heavily influenced by menswear and tailoring. It was a great opportunity to design for this brand, as the aesthetic is so similar to my own style.
• My interpretation of this brief was to look at the English countryside and farming culture, in a way to inspire the 'city woman'. I found it very interesting trying to combine these 2 opposing themes, and was happy with the outcome.
• I interned for 3 months (April-June 2011) at Sophie Hulme. It is an incredibly inspirational design studio to work in. The aesthetic of the brand directly relates to my own taste/style, and I very much enjoyed working as part of this small team.

• Winner of the 2011 Brooks Brothers Paid Design Internship - New York, Summer 2011.
• Live brief set by Brooks Brothers under the title "Back to Campus: Ivy League", to design a womenswear collection for A/W 2012.
• My interpretation of this brief combined the early Skinhead movement in Britain in the late 1970s with the Ivy League Look in America in the 1950s.
• My collection is aimed at a younger target audience compared to the typical Brooks Bothers woman. It is aimed at the college student.

• Finalist for the 2011 Old Navy Design Internship - San Francisco, Summer 2011.
• First and only menswear collection to date.
• Live brief set by Old Navy to produce two separate collections, one for womenswear, one for menswear. The collections were to incorporate the casual, feel good atmosphere of the Old Navy brand. 
• The brief was 'America' and had to involve the American flag, Old Navy logo, and national colours within both collections.
• My inspiration was the book "In the American West" by photographer Richard Avedon, where he photographed oil workers in the 1960s-1970s in America.
• The rough, stained, scruffy and torn clothes worn by these workers was very interesting to me. Particular emphasis was placed on dungarees, denim, sweatshirting, and graphic logos.

• Shortlisted for the 2011 Banana Republic Design Internship - New York, Summer 2011.
• Live brief set by Banana Republic under the title 'Jersey Moment', to produce a high end womenswear collection for Autumn/Winter 2011, where Jersey was the sole/dominant fabric.
• The collection was to capture the change in season between Summer and Autumn.
• My inspiration was children and childrenswear. I wanted to bring an element of this very simple and idealistic time in life back to womenswear. This was done through shapes seen in childrenswear, along with the delicate  and beautiful details.
• The end result was a garment from the line up being made in the final fabric. I selected a pair of navy trousers made from Silk Jersey. They are slim, with a drop crotch, seams down the centre front and centre back with long prominent side pockets.
